|
For the past 26 years, Paula
Jean Cate, MSN CNM has been involved in care of families in
their childbearing years. From experience in childbirth education
to work as a staff leader in neonatal intensive care units
and as a Certified Nurse midwife, Ms. Cate has worked hard
to provide women and families with an open arena in which
to air their concerns and get their questions answered.
Her emphasis has always been on providing holistic care for
women and their families. Holistic care means that all things
that impact a symptom or an illness are addressed in your
care. If you have PMS, diet, exercise and stress reduction
are all explored as client and provider work together to create
a plan of care.
Ms. Cates education preparation was at California State
University of Los Angeles, where she earned a Bachelor of
Science in Nursing and an advanced degree as a Certified OB/GYN
Nurse Practitioner. She graduated from Columbia University
in 1983 with a Masters Degree in Science and sat for her national
accreditation as a Certified Nurse Midwife in 1984.
For the past 17 years, Ms. Cate has provided Full scope Midwifery
care in both New York state and Connecticut. She most recently
was in a private practice in Bridgeport, CT. She left that
practice in November of 1999 to join Naugatuck Valley OB/GYN
and to help staff the new Birth Place here at ST. Marys
Hospital in Waterbury.
She takes pride in providing the best quality care she can
and enjoys the stimulation of both office practice and labor
and delivery. She lives in Woodbury where she enjoys the natural
environment and friendly neighbors. She has 2 cats and a wild
Parrot and one son who lives in North Carolina.
